Types of Diabetes: Diabetes can be of two types – Type 1 (insulin-dependent) and Type 2 (non-insulin-dependent). While Type 1 can develop in childhood or adolescence, Type 2 usually occurs among adults over 40, especially if they are obese.

The symptoms of diabetes are frequent urination, increased thirst and appetite, decreased healing capacity, skin infections and irritation, erection problems or weakness. While diabetes can be hereditary or genetic such as insulin deficiency, it can also be caused by high blood pressure and cholesterol, excess eating habits, lack of exercise, or a stressful life.

Diabetes can cause serious life-threatening complications such as hardening of the arteries or heart, eye, kidney and nerve problems. It is therefore necessary to treat diabetes as soon as possible.
