Roasted Garlic Steak Recipes With Garlic Dip

Roasted Garlic Steak Ingredients

1 ½ pounds round steak beef, boneless, lean
1 garlic, whole bulb
3 teaspoon fresh basil
1 tablespoon rosemary
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cracked black pepper
2 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

Method:

  • Cut of the top of the garlic bulb (only ½ inch) with the help of a sharp knife in such a way that the end of each individual garlic clove is exposed. Leave the bulb intact, do not separate the cloves. Remove any papery lose outer skin of the garlic.
  • Fold a 20×18 inch heavy foil piece crosswise into half. Trim the half into a 10 inch square. Place the whole garlic bulb in the center of the foil in such a way that its cut side is facing upwards.
  • Sprinkle rosemary, basil and olive oil over the garlic bulb. Bring the two opposite edges of the foil together and seal them with a double fold.
  • Enclose the garlic by folding the remaining edges together. Leave some space for steam to build up within the foil.

For Charcoal Grill:

  1. Place the packed garlic over medium coals on a rack of an uncovered grill. Grill garlic for about 30 minutes or until it is soft (lightly squeeze the garlic packet to feel it). Turn garlic occasionally to ensure even grilling.
  2. As the garlic gets grilled, trim any visible fat from the steaks. Sprinkle the salt and black pepper on both sides of the steak evenly and rub in the seasoning with your fingers. Add the steaks to the grill, while the garlic is still grilling.
  3. Grill steaks until desired doneness. For sirloin steak allow 14 to 18 minutes for medium to rare doneness or 145 degree Fahrenheit and 18 to 22 minutes for medium doneness or 160 degree Fahrenheit.
  4. For rib eye steaks allow 11 to 15 minutes for medium to rare doneness or 145 degree Fahrenheit and 14 to 18 minutes for medium doneness or 160 degree Fahrenheit.
  5. Let the steak stand for 5 minutes after it is done. Cut it into 6 serving size pieces before serving. Remove the garlic from the foil and reserve the oil mixture in it. Squeeze the garlic pulp from each clove equally over all the steak serving.
  6. Alternatively, you can mash the pulp lightly with the help of a fork and spread it over the steaks. Drizzle the reserved oil mixture all over the steaks and serve. This recipe makes 6 servings.
