Dry Nose Natural Treatments And Home Cures

A dry nose can be very annoying and cause a person a lot of discomfort. There are various ways in which one can tackle this problem. The first thing to do is to run through any medications one might be having and check and see if any of them can be causing a dry nose. Check this one’s doctor to be sure. Saline is very beneficial in dealing with a dry nose problem. Try applying saline drops to one’s nose 2 to 3 times in a day to help in moistening one’s nasal passages. A humidifier in one’s room is another very useful remedy for those suffering from this problem.

A humidifier helps to keep the air in the room and house moist and thus correspondingly helps in keeping one’s nose moistened due to the damp air that is breathed in by a person. This can even be used when a person is sleeping. Another useful tip is to try applying some kind of cream like petroleum jelly or another similar moisturizing cream or jelly on to the inner lining of one’s nostril. This application helps in soothing the dry skin inside the nose and reducing any discomfort. Other remedies include getting the person to sniff an onion.

This is also useful in causing the nose to moisten up. What helps in making a nose runny is food that is sufficiently spicy. Hence eating a meal which is hot and spicy can result in the nose moistening up and thus providing some relief. Drinking a cup of hot chicken soup can also prove to be beneficial in this situation. Similarly any other hot liquid that is consumed can help in this condition. Even drinking a glass of hot water with a dash of lemon squeezed in it can help. A hot shower, where there is a lot of steam can help to moisten the nasal passages. Or simply sit in a steam room and deeply breathe in the hot air.

Similarly another useful remedy to help moisten one’s nasal passage includes applying a little bit of sesame oil on to the inner lining of the nose. A regular massage with sesame oil is known to help in soothing a dry nose. However, if the nose gets so dry inside that cracks and cuts begin to develop which result in some bleeding, then it is essential that the person immediately visit a doctor. This condition can also result in one’s eyes and mouth beginning to get really dry.
