Cut and dry lips is a common problem faced by a lot of people in the world. It can be extremely annoying, painful and even ugly to look at. The human skin across most areas of a person’s body generates oil that is natural oil which helps in protecting the same skin from extreme conditions like cold winds or low humidity levels. The lips however do not have this ability of producing any natural oil and hence certain factors can cause them crack, cut or dry.

Some of the lips even bleed and appear rough and red. They can be very painful and can require continuous moistening by licking one’s lips. This can also further aggravate the problem.  Some of the amin causes of chapped lips include too much exposure to heat or cold or a very windy climate. Various allergies one has can also cause a case of dry and cut lips to occur. Different infections, use of drugs, severe medications, harsh soaps, cosmetics that can cause a reaction, other chemicals etc can all result in drying and cutting of ones lips.

Some of the basic natural home remedies to help in curing chapped lips include the person drinking a lot of water. This can prevent dehydration and can help in keeping the lips moist. Even drinking plenty of fluids and juices can help in this problem of drying lips by keeping the body well hydrated. Try applying some petroleum jelly on the lips daily before going to bed. Within a week or 5 days the lips should get noticeably moister and healthier. Even butter can be applied on the lips in place of a store bought lip balm. Try soaking some rose petals in plain milk and keep this overnight. Next morning crush the petals to form a paste and apply this on to the dry chapped lips.

The crushed rose will help in reducing the dryness and the cuts and will also help in making the lips pinker. Try applying milk cream on any dead skin that is there on the lips. This can help in smoothening them. Aloe vera is known to have various healing properties. Try applying the fresh cut pulp from an aloe vera leaf on to the lips. Otherwise simply apply the gel of the aloe vera 2 to 3 times a day. You will notice the difference immediately. This will also help in making your lips pink and soft.
