The body is the product of what it eats. Calorie imbalance in the body results from excessive calorie consumption and/or inadequate physical activity. Put less food on your plate; think “small” portions. Drink fewer beverages with calories – alcohol, soda, sweetened tea or coffee. Snack on small cubes or sticks of fruits and vegetables instead of chips, candy or cookies. When you are eating out, ask for the meals to be prepared with less oil or butter or if possible without it all. In salads, ask for dressings and sauces to be omitted. Despite all kinds of diets, equipments, potions, pills and creams, there are only two ways to change your body shape and reduce the calorie imbalance – eat less and exercise more.

Sensible Calorie Food Choices

Eating less does not have to mean starving yourself. It really means eating regular meals – as many as three to six per day – combined with making sensible food choices. Choosing healthier foods really means opting for foods that provide a good source of nutrients and roughage. Vitamins and minerals keep your system in good condition, while fibre-rich foods aid the digestion. Eating lots of natural foods – fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains – provides the vitamins and the minerals the body needs. These foods are filling so you can eat well and feel full without piling on the excessive calories.

As you make better food choices you will find your body storing less fat and your slimmer self beginning to emerge. Eat little and often, eat low in fat, eat lots of vegetables and fruits, eat whole grains and avoid too much sugar. You should also watch your salt intake, beware of alcohol and cut down on meat. Finally and most importantly, drink plenty of water. Juices can be used too, as substitute for water once in a while or as a quick refresher. In addition to this, you should exercise more. When you exercise your body uses up calories to provide energy. The more energy you use up, the fewer calories are left to be stored. If you regularly use up lots of calories through exercise, you will find your body storing fewer calories as body fat.
