Home Remedies to get Rid of Pimples

As a teenager, you are constantly facing off with your biggest nemesis. Not surprise tests, exams, homework or cleaning your room. None of these brings your social life to a screeching halt like waking up to an ugly, red pimple on your forehead or nose. However, no matter what you do, do not squeeze it. You will only end up making things worse.

Apart from bruised skin, you will also have to deal with scars and marks later in life.

What causes pimples?

A host of reasons can leave you with pimples on your face. You may have survived your teenage years without too much damage. Watch out. Pimples are not just an adolescent condition. They can also occur sporadically in later years. Women undergoing menopause may also have to deal with pimples.

The simplest explanation for what causes pimples is hormonal changes. Hormonal changes lead to a change in physical appearance. They are also, what causes pimples or acne breakout due to overproduction of oil by the sebaceous gland.

Pimples can appear on your face, back, chest and shoulders. When hormonal changes result in excessive production of oil in these areas, hair follicles can trap them and clog the skin pores. Clogging can also occur due to dead skin build-up, unhygienic habits (not washing your face regularly can result in bacteria accumulation), and overuse of makeup and moisturizing products that don’t let the skin breathe and so on.

Stress is another factor responsible for pimples. It can worsen inflammation of the skin-giving rise to pimples.

While hormones may be the numero uno culprit, your genetics may also have a part to play in what causes pimples. If you are suffering from a severe onslaught of pimples, chances are one or both of your parents did too.

Although a rite of passage for most teenagers, severe cases of pimples should be handled by a doctor or skin specialist. They can lead to infections starting out as black heads, white heads (pus filled pimples), or cystic acne. Excessive scarring and lesions also need to be treated. Adolescents are emotionally prone to the way they appear to their peers and scarring can dent their self-esteem.

Natural remedies for pimples

While a severe case of acne warrants a visit to the doctor, a routine of home remedies to get rid of pimples can come right out of the kitchen pantry.

•  If you are looking for cost free natural remedies for pimples start with plain H2O. Water helps to cleanse your body from    inside out and unclog those pores.
•  Keep yourself and your skin hydrated. Wash your face regularly and make sure you cleanse all make up before you go to    sleep.
•  Chemical peels at the salon are expensive and might not suit all skin types. Make your own five-minute citrus facial right    at home with grated lemon or orange peel mixed with gram flour. Wash clean and pat dry.
•  Refrigerated cucumber peels or tea bags reduce redness or inflammation. Anti-oxidants in the tea refresh your skin.
•  Natural remedies for pimples in your diet include a balanced, healthy meal consisting of fruits and vegetables.

Pimples Natural Remedies

Many a times we think that adolescence and puberty are the common causes for having pimples as the number of hormonal changes which occur in this age are often blamed. But this is not the only reason for having pimples. Changes in lifestyle and dietary changes also contribute to the development of pimples. The emphasis on junk food, sodas, colas, aerated drinks and other oily unhealthy food is so much these days that the goodness of a healthy balanced diet is forgotten. This is also one of a reason for chronic constipation as the essential fiber which comes from fresh fruits, vegetables and whole cereals is missing. So it is important to include lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole cereal grains and its products, sprouts, pulses and dairy products in the diet. Not to forget to include lots of water in your diet to make the skin complexion glow. Also try and avoid chronic constipation, if any. Wash your face several times a day to keep the skin clean and oil free. Pimples on the face can also be sometimes due to dandruff on your scalp, if this is a possibility then try to rule it out. Never pop a pimple as this can cause unnecessary scars or infection and if you have recurring pimples then consult a dermatologist before applying any medications.
