Best Aphrodisiac Fruits

Submitted by Stella Morgan on August 3, 2010

Aphrodisiac foods are those foods which enhance sexual desire and promote sexual pleasure and satisfaction. The word “aphrodisiac” is derived from the name of a Greek Goddess, Aphrodite, who symbolizes love and sensuality.

Although aphrodisiacal foods have been popular for centuries, until very recently, science has not supported these claims of foods with aphrodisiacal properties. However, lately it has been discovered that aphrodisiacal foods are rich in certain nutrients which enhance sexual desire. These foods can help achieve a longer erection span in males and enhances lubrication in the female genital organs. Aphrodisiacal foods are also supposed to intensify orgasms, thereby leading to satisfactory sexual pleasure.

There are numerous aphrodisiacal foods, here is one of the most powerful aphrodisiac foods list:

  • One of the most powerful aphrodisiac foods are oysters.

Oysters are rich in zinc, which stimulates the production of testosterone, the male sex hormone, thereby resulting in enhanced sexual desire.
  • Asparagus is also considered to be among the effective aphrodisiac foods list on account of its rich Vitamin E content. Vitamin E stimulates the genital organs to secrete sex hormones, which ameliorates sexual desire and pleasure.
  • One of the most well known aphrodisiacal foods are chilies, which are a rich source of capsaicin. Capsaicin stimulates the nerve endings to secrete and release chemicals which increase the pulse rate, which in turn triggers the release of endorphins, the substances that intensifies orgasms and leads to immense sexual pleasure by imparting a natural high after intercourse.
  • Chocolates have been considered to be one of the best aphrodisiacal foods since time immemorial.

Chocolates are rich in a compound called phenylethylamine, which stimulates excitement for sex and also promotes a feeling of well-being.
  • Other foods are that are supposedly aphrodisiac foods include banana and carrots.
  • Also, the smell of certain foods is supposed to promote sexual desire. For example, licorice candy is supposed to promote sexual desire in women and butter popcorn and pumpkin pie stimulates the sexual organs and glands in men.
  • Foods like pine nuts, tomatoes, almond, avocado, basil, fig, vanilla, berries (particularly strawberries and raspberries), and some variants of alcohol including wine and champagne are also supposed to stimulate sexual desire.
  • Other than these foods, there are a number of herbs which are supposed to enhance sexual desire.

These herbs include asafetida, belladonna, betel palm, borrachero, calamus, cistanches, cayenne, cnidium seeds, damiana, and nutmeg.

While it is okay to consume natural aphrodisiacs foods that may have aphrodisiacal properties, do not consume any medicines that claim to have such properties without consulting a doctor.
