Overweight People Health Risks

Overweight people have more weight than the desired body weight which can be due to excess muscle mass, bones mass, body fat and water. Body mass index is the most common method used to determine the level of fat deposits in the body; it is calculated by dividing weight in kg by height in m2. However it would not be an accurate method to determine the adiposity in the body for that other fat calculators are used. Being overweight can put a person at risk for many disease conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, stroke, heart disease, joint problems and breathing problems. It can also cause low-self esteem and other psychological problems like depression.

The main reason for overweight is increases in the modern convenient junk and other foods with high fats and sugar and on the other hand minimal or lack of physical activity. Thus the excess calorie gets converted in to fat and is stored in the body tissues. To avoid any health complications it is very important to stay healthy and decrease body weight to achieve and maintain an ideal body weight. This can be done by consuming a healthy balanced diet which is high in whole cereals, grains and its products, pulses, low-fat dairy products, lots of fruits and vegetables  and low in junk foods, oily foods, refined/processed/packed foods, sweets, desserts, ice creams, chocolates, colas and sodas. Also there should be adequate physical activity to burn the extra calories.
