Acid Alkaline Diet For Treatment Of Acidosis

Acidic Foods And Its Effect On Human Body

Acidic vegetables and fruits include olives, corn, winter squash, amaranth, lentils, prunes, blueberries, plums, cranberries, currants and glazed fruits. Other foods that are acidic are wheat germ, barley, corn, oats, rice, rye, bread, spaghetti, barley, corn starch, noodles, wheat flour, spelt, rice cakes, quinoa and so on. Increase in acidic foods in the diet causes a number of complications. It is a burden on the system to balance the pH of the blood. This increases the stress, and thereby results in disease and illness.

It is life threatening.

An acid diet increases the acidity of the fluids in the system, thereby causing acidosis. Increase in acid or loss in bicarbonate is seen in acidosis. Low acid diets and low alkaline diets are helpful in the elimination of stones from the kidneys. Alkaline urine gives rise to calcium carbonate, magnesium phosphate and calcium phosphate stones. Acidic diet is helpful in this condition. Individuals with cystine and uric acid stones are benefited by an alkaline diet or low acid diet. Chocolates, tinned foods, soups, and fast foods are convenience foods, which are a part of acidic foods.

Low Acid Diet  And Its Benefits

Diet plays a vital role in the treatment of acidosis or alkalosis. Certain drugs also prove effective in conjunction with diet. Low acid diet also decreases the risk of renal insufficiency, calcium stones in the renal system, high blood pressure and asthma due to exercise. Fresh fruits and raw vegetables are alkaline foods that are highly effective for an acidic stomach. Alkaline diet helps to reduce the risk of fractures related to stress and deterioration or demineralisation of bones.

Low acid diet proves beneficial and is also referred to as acid alkaline diet or alkaline diet. Fruits, grains, vegetables, legumes, tubers, roots and nuts are of great emphasis in this diet. Increase in mucous production, increase in cold and flu, ovarian cysts, irritability, anxiety, nervousness, polycystic ovarian syndrome, fatigue, headache and nasal congestion are seen to occur with an acidic diet. Low acid diet proves beneficial in the prevention of certain disorders, such as osteoporosis, muscle wasting and renal stones.

Blackberries, bananas, oranges, apples, dates, nectarines, raisins and pineapple are fruits that form a part of alkaline diet. Cumin seeds, lentils, sprouts, pumpkin seeds, sesame, flax and sunflower seeds are seeds and nuts that are alkaline. About two to three litres of water is adequate.
