High Protein Shakes |
What are High Protein Shakes? High protein shakes are shakes that are used by bodybuilders and sportsmen who need to get more protein in their diets. Bodybuilders often use them just before and just after a workout, when their protein needs are the highest. While bodybuilders swear by these shakes, there is not any research to show that these shakes are more effective than protein that comes from normal food sources. The advantage of these shakes is that they are easy to make, and give you all the protein you need. Some shakes even contain carbs and fats in the exact amount you require. They are available in different forms, as powders, gels or ready to eat shakes.
High Protein Shakes for Weight Loss If you are trying to lose weight, the first thing you will have to do is design a workout schedule that includes weight training as well as cardiovascular training. When you this, your body’s nutritional requirements will go up. For weight loss, you need a protein shake that is high on protein, but low on calories. Also, they should contain less carbs than one needs for gaining weight. Often available as powders, they can be mixed with water or skim milk for a quick, easy to make shake. Ideally, these low calorie high protein shakes should be consumed before a workout and immediately after. Read more on low carb protein shakes
High Protein Shakes for Weight Gain If you are trying to gain weight, then you should know that you need to put on lean muscle, and not fat. For this, you need much more protein, and you also need to work out much harder. The high intensity workout should leave your muscles exhausted, and that is where the shake comes in. For weight gain, you need high calorie high protein shakes; these have a very high amount of protein as well as carbs in them. They also have fats and amino acids, among other minor ingredients. This combination is optimal for muscle growth.
How to Make Protein Shakes? There are many high protein shake recipes available on the Internet. The simplest way is, of course, to just mix the powder with water or skim milk. To make it a more complete meal, you can add fruit, soy milk, chocolate peanut butter, or even eggs. Keep in mind though that ever ingredient has its own calorie count and will all add up. Since everybody’s needs and physiology is different, there is no such thing as the best high protein shakes. What you consume depends on how your body reacts and how much you are working out. So seek the help of your trained in choosing a shake. Also see homemade protein shakes
