Fruit - Cure for All Stomach Ailments

“An apple a day keeps the doctor away” goes the age old saying. Modern day medical science shows us that this saying holds truer than we take it to be. You already know that you should supplement your diet with a daily intake of fruit. But did you also know that in the absence of medication, the humble fruit can prove to be as effective as any drug that you can obtain from the pharmacist?

Fruit have many healing properties in addition to promoting good health.
Let us take the case of the banana. Banana contains pectin, and when this fruit is eaten, the pectin absorbs water and acts as a laxative. Eating two ripe bananas in the morning should be more than enough to cure constipation. Eating bananas also helps to prevent acidity.

The papaya is another fruit that is very good for the digestive system. Eating ripe papaya on a regular basis cures and prevents constipation. It is also eases the pain for people suffering from piles or hernia.

Lime has for long known to be an excellent source of Vitamin C. In the old days, sailors were given two slices of lime a day to prevent the onset of scurvy. Lemon juice is very useful in curing common colds, and a bad throat.

The bael fruit is used as a laxative and to treat dysentery. The fruit is prepared as a juice for curing constipation. In order to treat dysentery, the unripe fruit is used.

Most parts of India get very hot in the summers and heat exhaustion and heat stroke are very common during the summer season. In many parts of the country, a drink prepared from unripe mangoes, sugar, water, and a dash of cardamom is prepared during these months. This drink is known as Panha and is very refreshing and helps safeguard the body against heat exhaustion.

Fruit are some of the riches sources of vitamins. The guava contains large amounts of Vitamin C, oranges contain Vitamins A, B, and C, grapes and gooseberries also contain large amounts of Vitamin C. other fruit that can be used to treat ailments include the pomegranate, grape fruit, and apricot.

The stomach can be described as one of the most important parts of the human body. Not only does it comprise vital organs, but it also is the main factor responsible for the absorption and digestion of the food that has been consumed. People can improve their overall health and wellbeing, by taking good care of their stomach. Unfortunately, it is very common for people of all ages to suffer from various stomach ailments. This is because the stomach can also be quite delicate and can get affected by common factors, which include contaminated water or food, indigestion, infections, an inappropriate diet, and so on.

The most common stomach ailments in children may vary considerably from the ones that are generally seen in grownups. Given below are some of the most common stomach ailments in children: Appendicitis

  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
  • Parasite infection
There are some stomach ailments, especially the ones that are common in children that can be easily prevented, by following simple hygienic measures and by eating a healthy diet on a daily basis. However, there are several stomach ailments and digestive disturbances that may be uncontrollable and may occur due to another underlying condition. Therefore it is absolutely necessary for all people to consult a doctor as soon as any of the possible stomach ailments and symptoms are seen.

Most people deal with simple stomach ailments, using over the counter and prescription medication. The use of home remedies and herbs for minor stomach ailments is also fairly common. There are many people who are also using alternative treatments, like acupressure or yoga for stomach ailments. However, some of the techniques in yoga for stomach ailments include the stomach wash, abdomen churning, food-pipe cleansing and colon cleansing (yogic diet), which should only be performed under the supervision of an expert. Therefore, it is best to follow a healthy diet and consult a doctor before deciding to opt for any form of treatment for stomach ailments.
