Varicose Veins Diet

The modern medical treatment of either a surgical operation or injections do not hold out hopes of a cure, as they do not even treat the basic cause



By surgically removing one affected vein, other veins may get affected.

Diet for Varicose Veins:

For proper treatment in a natural way, the patient should, in the beginning, be put on a juice fast for four or five days or on an all-fruit diet for seven to ten days. A warm water enema should be administered daily during this period to cleanse the bowels and measures should be taken to avoid constipation.

After the juice fast or the all-fruit diet. The patient should adopt a restricted diet plan. In this regimen, oranges or -orange and lemon juices may be taken for breakfast. The midday meal may consist of raw salad of any of the vegetables in season with olive oil and lemon juice dressing. Steamed vegetables such as spinach, cabbage, carrots, turnips, cauliflower and raisins, fig s or dates may be taken in the evening. No bread or potatoes Dr other starchy food should be included in this diet; as to the wise the whole effect of the diet will be lost



After the restricted diet, the patient may gradually embark upon a well-balanced diet of three basic food groups, namely seeds, nuts and grains, vegetables and fruits. About 75 percent of the diet should consist of raw vegetables and fruits. Condiments, alcoholic drinks, coffee; strong tea, white flour products, white sugar and white sugar products should be strictly avoided. A short fast or the all-fruit diet for two or three days may be undertaken every month. Depending on he progress being made.

The alternate hot and cold hipbath will be vary valuable and should be taken daily. The affected parts should be sprayed with cold water or cold packs should be applied to them. A mudpack may be applied at night and allowed to remain until morning

The patient should undertake outdoor exercises like Walking, swimming, cycling, take sunbaths and do deep Breathings exercises.

TREATMENT CHART FOR VARICOSE VEINS

A – DIET

I. Raw juice for 3 to 5 days. During this period, the bowels should be cleansed daily with warm water enema.


II. An all fruit diet for further 3 to 5 days.


III. Thereafter, adopt a well-balanced diet on the following lines:-

1. Upon arising: A glass of carrot and spinach juice

2. Breakfast: Fresh fruits and a glass of milk sweetened with honey.

3. Lunch: Freshly-prepared steamed vegetables, whole wheat chappatis and a glass of buttermilk.

4. Mid-afternoon: A glass of vegetable or fruit juice.

5. Dinner: Fresh green vegetable salad, and sprouts with lemon juice dressing, followed by a hot course, if desired.

6. Bedtime Snack: A glass of milk or one apple

Note: Repeat a short juice fast or an all-fruit diet for two or three days every month.

AVOID: Tea, coffee, sugar, white flour, all products made with sugar and white flour, fried foods, flesh foods, condiments, pickles, alcohol and tobacco.

Other Measures:

1. Drink at least six to eight glasses of water daily.

2. Cold hip bath for 10 minutes daily.

3. Hot epsom-salt bath twice weekly.

4



Apply mud packs to the affected parts in the night.

5. Get up and walk around frequently.

6. Brisk walks for 45 minutes morning and evening daily.

7. Yogasanas like uttanapadasana, pavan muktasana, vajrasana, yogamudra, bhujangasana, shallabhasana, chakrasana, and shavasana.
