Diet Sodas And Sodas Sugar Supplements For Health

When it's hot and blistering weather thirst comes easy and the first drink that most of us reached out for is a soda pop - a carbonated beverage.



Most people who are worried about their sugar or calorie intake opt for diet sodas as they believe that it is the healthier and lighter choice within sugared beverages. Diet sodas also referred to as diet pop, diet aid, sugar-free drinks, or light refreshments, are usually carbonated drinks without the addition of sugar but have artificially sweeteners as a sweetening substitute and are commercialized targeted towards people who are health-conscious, people with diabetes, athletes and others interested in losing weight or staying fit.

Soda Drinks And Low Calorie Regular Soda

Research has show that even though diet soda may not contain sugar or calories as that of regular soda, it is chock a block with other unhealthy compounds such as caffeine, flavorings, sodium and phosphoric acid.



One of the main concerns of diet sodas is the use of artificial sweeteners in them that may interfere with the body’s feelings of sweet-satisfaction. Some experts are of the belief that artificial sweeteners possess the ability to obscure the taste buds and its measures of satiety; and recent research has actually supported this view.





Certain medical data has pointed out that the body learns to anticipate caloric intake by the appreciation and character of certain foods. When the body consumes diet sodas which have artificial sweeteners in them, the body sends off the appropriate gratifying signals to the brain but is unable to carry off the sugar punch. In a certain study it was seen that rats who were given artificial sweeteners systematically consumed more than the group that was fed high-calorie sugar.

With diet sodas not only does an individual lose out on the nutrients provided by natural sugars, the body is also bombarded with a host of dubious ingredients that work against the body’s effort to maintain a healthy balance. The principal amongst these is caffeine. Most diet sodas are either cola-based or have caffeine added in them.



The complexities of caffeine intake and addiction are numerous, with some of them including tiredness, anxiousness; sleep disorders, and deteriorating symptoms of hormonal imbalance leading the list.

To boot, caffeine is a diuretic, so if you are of the opinion that drinking a can of diet soda is quenching your thirst and keeping you hydrated, the reverse is true. Diet soda also has sodium, which aggravates the thirst, and with the intake of caffeine, the body is forced to lose essential fluids.
