Gaining weight during pregnancy is considered good as opposed to the normal routine where a woman is always unwilling to gain a few pounds.

For the development of the child, a woman is not exactly required to eat the food of two people but to eat food that is double in calories and energy content. Some women gain weight even in the first trimester but some are not able to gain a few pounds even at the end of the second trimester. Here are some dietary measures that can be adopted in order to gain weight during pregnancy:
  • Eat cheese with crackers.
  • Avoid eating junk food as it contains high fats and sugar. Instead, opt for fresh fruits.
  • Adding butter, margarine, cream cheese, gravy, sour cream, and cheese can fulfill the body’s requirements of carbohydrates and energy.
  • Take five to six frequent, healthy but small meals every day.
  • Always keep quick snacks including nuts, raisins, cheese and crackers, dried fruit, ice cream, and yogurt at hand so you can eat them whenever you feel hungry.
  • Eat peanut butter on toast as it is rich in protein.
  • Eat energy rich foods like mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, and hot cereal.
  • Eat fruits and green vegetables including apples, bananas, celery, and spinach.
  • Eat minced meat to increase the red blood cells count.
  • Take milk and powdered milk that is low in fats.
  • Vitamin A, B, C, D, and E supplements and folic acid supplements should also be taken along with this diet to ensure the health of the coming newborn and the mother to be.
