Diet Low in carbohydrates
Eating less and exercising more are the best ways to reduce weight. Low carbohydrate diet results in excessive loss of water from the body. The fat is not lost and incomplete breakdown of fatty acids are seen. This results in ketosis. One of the most commonly referred low carbohydrate diet is Atkins diet. A low carbohydrate diet has four steps:
A two week induction period and The three stages wherein the intake of carbohydrates is limited below the threshold level.
The carbohydrate is limited to less than 20 grams, when in the induction period. Ketosis decreases the appetite. Unlimited amount of eating is done when hungry, though non carbohydrate foods are only allowed. A no carbs diet is impossible to follow. Minimum amounts of carbohydrates are required for healthy living.
