Carcinogens are any substances present in food or environment that are responsible for causing cancer. These carcinogen substances can be chemicals in the environment, pollution, cigarette smoke, and lifestyle, dietary or eating habit.  For example cigarette (tobacco) smoke contains more than 60 such substances that are well known to cause cancer. These substances can cause damage to the DNA or they can affect certain cells in certain area of the body leading to faster division of cells than their normal rate thus causing cancer.
