Information on Eating Disorders

When a person hears the term eating disorder an instant conclusion is draw out that the person has some kind of problem with food. Eating disorders in a person is much more serious; he/she does not actually have a problem with food, but have some underlying psychological problem. Eating disorders can be many including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, compulsive eating disorder, and binge eating disorder. Eating disorders are serious behavior problems which can be worked out over a period of time.

Anorexia nervosa – A person suffering form this type of eating disorder wishes to become too thin like all the super models. Although they are much below their ideal body weigh they refuse to eat much food because they think that they are fat and will become obese if they eat more.

Bulimia nervosa – A person with bulimia would have episodes of binging and purging.


They eat enough food but most of the times they throw up these foods immediately by self induced vomiting or using heavy laxatives.
Binge eating – In this a person eats large quantity of food in a very short period of time.

Compulsive eating – This disorder is characterized by uncontrolled eating and successive weight gain. All the eating disorders can cause serious nutritional deficiencies or harm to the body.
