Foods To Avoid For Frozen Shoulder Treatment
Submitted by Loring A. Windblad on June 2, 2010
Frozen Shoulder Adhesive Capsulitis
:
Frozen shoulder
is a condition where the shoulder joint of person becomes stiff and possibly unmovable. The word frozen is used in terms of lack of mobility not in terms of temperature. It is caused by both inflammation of the shoulder muscles and tissues as well as by the formation of tissue that is not normal in the shoulder which causes adhesion to take place in the joint. This is why the medical term used for a
frozen shoulder is adhesive capsulitis
.
Adhesive Capsulitis Symptoms
: Frozen shoulder is a slow process that takes months to develop into a fully immobile joint. Thus
adhesive capsulitis symptoms
are developing in nature and their development can be arrested.
The first stage occurs when pain is felt in the joint. Stiffness accompanies this pain but mobility is maintained. By the end of this stage, freezing of the joint takes place and the joint becomes immobile.
By the end of this stage, the pain is almost unbearable. This stage can last from 9 weeks to 6 months between
the first symptoms
occurring and the freezing of the shoulder. A frozen shoulder can last for up to 9 months in its frozen state.
Pain reduces once the freezing of the joint is complete but does not go away. Pain only subsides once the joint begins to release itself from the frozen position. It can take more than 2 years to regain full mobility.
Frozen Shoulder Causes
and Treatment
: The
causes behind frozen shoulder
are not fully understood. Some evidence does suggest that it may be due to an auto immune response where the body’s immune system begins to attack its own healthy shoulder joint. There are several ways to
treat a frozen shoulder
. Most of these seek to improve blood circulation in the area through
massaging or aqua therapy
. People who have limited movement in their joint are encouraged through physiotherapy which might help to relieve the symptoms to some extent. In order to avoid the auto immune component you should eat food that is rich in vitamin D. Good bacteria that aids the process of digestion also helps to strengthen the immune system. Foods that are unprocessed are recommended as they do not contain harmful chemicals or synthetic materials. Because the exact cause of frozen shoulder is unknown, doctors simply recommend a healthy diet with plenty of
vitamins and minerals
to help boost your body while you are suffering from the problem.
