Psoriasis Medication And Home Remedies For Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a chronic and inflammatory skin disease in which the skin develops thick, dry, red, and scaly patches on various locations. One suffers from this condition when the new skin cells form and reach the top layer of the skin at an abnormal speed – about four days instead of a month. This abnormality makes the dead skin cells unable to flake off and they build up on the surface in patches instead. Psoriasis is usually caused by heredity factors, skin infections, climactic changes, injuries, and an abnormal metabolic rate of amino acids and proteins.

The condition affects both men and women and elderly people and infants are at a lower risk. Psoriasis is not a contagious disease. Though there are many reasons for someone suffering from the condition, alcohol, obesity, stress, certain medications and anxiety tend to trigger the symptoms. Therefore a person suffering from this skin condition must avoid these triggers under all circumstances.

Psoriasis Simple Remedies For Psoriasis Infection

There are many simple remedies that can control the symptoms of psoriasis and cure it too. First of all, please keep in mind that your skin needs to be well-moisturized and clean at all times to avoid dryness and infection. Do not skip using your daily moisturizer. Make it a point to apply a good moisturizer after taking a shower, while the skin is still moist. This makes sure that the absorbed moisture is locked into your skin well. Also, you will need to choose your moisturizer carefully, as poor quality products can aggravate psoriasis. The heavier, oilier, and thicker the moisturizer the more effective it would be, as it would trap moisture more effectively and keep it trapped longer.

To keep your skin hydrated, you should also drink lots of water and fluids everyday, and also soak in a tub or go swimming as often as possible. If you mix a few drops of tea tree oil or two cups of Epsom salt in the water and soak in it for about 20 minutes, it will bring added relief from the symptoms. Similarly, regular seawater baths or the application of seawater on the affected areas also brings relief. Another effective treatment is mixing one cup of olive oil with two drops of calendula oil and one drop of oregano oil, and rubbing it on the patches regularly. You can also mix equal amounts of aloe vera gel and garlic oil and apply it on the affected areas. Garlic and aloe vera combat most kinds of infections and skin disorders and will prevent secondary skin infections.
