A cough is simply an action taken by your body to get rid of any substance that could be stuck in the air passage. There are several home remedies available to help in dealing with a cough. Take one teaspoon of honey and to this add a pinch of white pepper powder. Have this mixture at least 2-3 times in a day. It has been found to be very effective in curing coughs. A mixture of finely ground black pepper and honey is also good for a cough. A teaspoon of this mixture, if had 2-3 times in a day, will help release any mucous that may be lodged in the throat, while also getting rid of irritants that may be present in the trachea. Mix together two tablespoons of water, a tablespoon of honey, 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar, quarter teaspoon of ginger (ground) and quarter teaspoon of red pepper. Having a teaspoon a day of this mixture will help to loosen any hardened mucous as well as promote its expulsion.
Crush some cloves and 3-4 garlic pods. Mix the two ingredients together and then add this mixture to a glass of milk. Boil this solution till it is reduced to half of its original quantity. Filter it and drink it at least twice a day, till your cough is cured. Whenever you have a cough it is important to stay away from pickles, processed and refined foods, condiments, coffee, tea, sugar and meats. Drinking a lot of orange or warm carrot juice will also help. Eat a lot of fruits, particularly melons, peaches, pineapples, oranges, grape fruit, grapes, pears and apples. Drinking plenty of water is also important as it will soothe the throat and prevent it from getting dry.
