Inflammation of the veins, seen on the limbs is referred to as varicose veins. It is more obvious, when the individual is standing. Cramps and fatigue are common varicose vein symptoms of an affected limb. Pineapple juice is an effective remedy, and the effect is attributed to the bromelain present in them. Vegetable juices are useful, as they ensure proper and healthy collagen.

A healthy collagen ensures decreased risk of varicose veins. Fruit juices help in the maintenance of body weight, which decrease the probability of varicosities. The hook method is one of the most commonly followed varicose veins treatment. Ligation and stripping are also part of varicose vein surgery. Protein in the diet, in addition to citrus juice, which is an excellent source of vitamin C helps in the prevention of wear and tear of the collagen. Juices of berries, such as blackberries and blueberries help in strengthening the walls of the veins. The above said effect is due to the presence of pigments, such as proanthocyanidins and anthocyanins. Two glasses of fresh vegetable juice, such as that of celery, beet, parsley and apple, with supplements help. A juice fast for about four to five days proves beneficial.
