A large meal or a meal that is high in fat or sugar causes the pancreas to release a lot of insulin, which promote the absorption of dietary fat into the body



Small frequent-meals, does not produce excess insulin



As a result more dietary fat is burned as fuel, and less fat is stored in fat cells



Less insulin also promotes the break down of fat already present in the fat cells It is    released into the blood to be used as additional fuel for energy.

Therefore small frequent, complex-carbohydrate meals results in more fat being burned as fuel and less fat being stored as fat deposits, besides there is also a decrease in the appetite.
