Eye Cleansing Tips
Eyes are one of the most important as well as one of the most delicate organs in the body. They are also one of the most vulnerable, as they are directly exposed to external environmental factors such as light, heat, wind, humidity, dust and particulate matter, and chemicals and gases present in the air. Thus, your eyes are constantly at risk of coming into contact with unclean, toxic substances that are a source of potential damage and infection to the delicate tissues of the organ. Thus, it is necessary that you take special care to ensure that no harmful foreign bodies enter the eyes. A simple way of keeping your eyes clean is to splash them gently with cold water at regular intervals throughout the day. This not only washes away particulate pollutants that may have reached the surface of the eye but also soothes and moisturizes the eyes after they have been exposed to heat and harsh light for a long period of time. It is also a good idea to use sunglasses whenever you step out of doors. This keeps the eyes protected to a great extent from pollutants and the strong rays of the sun at daytime. At the end of the day, you should also remove your lenses very carefully and put them on again only after cleaning them properly with a cleansing solution.

In addition to these general measures, a few specific eye care treatment may also be useful for cleansing the eyes. One of the most popular of these is to pour a few drops of pure honey into the eyes twice or thrice every week. You should also keep the following eye wash instructions in mind while cleansing your eyes. Honey has natural disinfecting and soothing properties that reduce the chances of eye infections. You may also make a natural eye cleansing solution by boiling a teaspoon of fennel seeds in two cups of water till the solution is reduced to half of its original volume. Strain and collect the clear liquid after it has cooled down and use a few drops of this decoction once every week to cleanse your eyes naturally. A few drops of chilled cucumber juice also serves as an excellent natural means of cleansing and soothing the eyes, especially after several hours of work in front of the computer. You may also pour a few drops of chilled rose water into your eyes to keep them clean. In case of eye inflammation and infections, a swab of cotton wool soaked in a solution of Epsom salts and lukewarm water is also useful in cleansing the eyes.
