The Special K diet was formulated by Kellogg's. It is consumed with skimmed milk and fruits. One cup of the special K Kellogg's cereal is had with a fruit and two thirds of skimmed milk. This is taken for breakfast and as lunch or dinner. The diet is followed for two weeks. Snack bars, beverages and meal replacement bars are added in their plans for better health.
Research reveals the effect of the special K diet with reduced fat intake. Calcium intake is boosted by he intake of skimmed milk along with cereals. Studies also reveal the correlation between weight loss and calcium intake. Consumption of breakfast is helpful in losing weight. Initial phases of weight loss are easily achieved by the use of the meal replacements.
Monotony of the diet is difficult to handle and might result in problems. Going back to the normal diet increases the risk of weight gain. Eating habits are not enhanced by this special K diet. Fiber needs are not met and calls for the consumption of a whole grain bread, in addition to lots of fruits and vegetables. It is a completely vegetarian product helping on weight loss.
