How To Stay Physically Fit

In today’s rather fast paced corporate world, a lot of us see our physical health take a back seat on our priority list. This causes a number of complications such as obesity as well as the weakening of the immune system – causing us to be rather prone to a number of health complications including very severe ones such as heart problems and bronchial ailments. While most people will generally purely associate physical health with getting the right kind of fitness exercise, proper nutrition is a very important aspect of the entire chain. Proper physical fitness also boosts the states of ones mind, thereby helping in the alleviation of stress, irritability and boosting the individual’s mental health as well. Maintaining a high level of physical fitness also promotes muscular strength, self confidence as well as aesthetic definition.
Let’s be honest – almost all of us dream of having a body that is substantially toned with muscle. However, one of the most frequently overlooked aspects of physical fitness is the kind of food that we eat on an almost regular basis. Probably the most important initial component of physical fitness is to make sure that you eat the right kinds of food. Although a burger or hot dog is a very convenient and tasty meal to dig into, it is also contains tons of empty calories that serve no other purpose other than adding to the layers of fat in the body. It is important to be able to differentiate between calories and empty calories because most people that are new to the concept of calories will generally assume that they should be avoided. The truth is that calories play a very important role in the overall nutrition of the body because they are essentially the building blocks of the energy our body needs to create in order to perform the daily physical tasks. The problem kicks in when the individual consumes too many calories, significantly disproportionate to the amount of energy requires over the course of the day. The unused calories are then converted into fat cells and coupled with the fat tissues all over the body. If this habit remains unchecked, the condition could spiral out of control and into obesity – causing a number of other complications such as heart disease, lethargy, respiratory illnesses and a drop in self esteem.

Health Benefits of Physical Fitness

The benefits of physical fitness are far reaching and will have a substantial impact on the quality of an individuals overall lifestyle. It also substantially boosts an individuals self confidence as well as self esteem, thereby enabling him to be more socially interactive as well. On a detailed level, the more important components of physical fitness include cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and endurance, body composition as well as flexibility. The first component – cardiovascular endurance is essentially the measurement of the bodies ability to be able to deliver oxygen and nutrients to the tissues all over the body while also removing wastes that tend to accumulate over a period of time. The muscular strength and endurance aspect of physical fitness has more to do with the ability of the collective or group of muscles to be able to exert a certain amount of force for a brief period of time or, in the case of endurance, over a significant period of time. Body composition tends to be a little more obscure in definition at first read, but is essentially a term in which certain factors such as vital tissue, bone, muscle and organs are all assessed along with total fat mass of the body. Flexibility is directly concerned with the ease and ability to move joints and muscles in their full range of motion.
