April 20, 2011
Pregnancy is one of the most exciting phases of a woman’s life. However, it is also accompanied by many physical changes, which may cause anxiety and even depression. Every trimester and month of pregnancy is marked by some kind of physical change in the body. As such, it is essential to negate the side-effects of such changes with appropriate diet and prescribed exercise.
The fifth month of pregnancy is characterized by the following physical changes and associated symptoms:
• As the baby starts growing in the mother’s womb by fifth month, the pregnant women face difficulty in manipulating their sleeping positions.
• Dizziness, fatigue, and fainting are quite common in the fifth month of pregnancy.
• Fifth month pregnancy is also characterized by severe pain in the back.
• Pregnant women may find the appearance of dark spots on the skin in the fifth month.
• In the fifth month, pregnant women may also experience diminished vision and bleeding in the gums.
If you are in your fifth month of pregnancy, here are some
diet tips
that will help you to cope with these changes and sustain the growth of your baby:
• You should consume a lot of milk, yogurt, and cottage cheese.
These foods are rich in calcium and help in building the skeletal system of the baby.
• Try to consume a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables. These foods supply vitamins and minerals to your body. Also, these foods help sustain the health of your gastro-intestinal tract, thereby preventing gas and constipation.
• In order to detoxify your body during pregnancy, you must consume a lot of fluids, including fresh juices and water.
Drink a lot of sugarcane and mango juices as these are rich sources of carbohydrates, which strengthen you to carry the baby and prepare you for labor.
• You tend to gain a lot of weight during the fifth month of pregnancy. As such, you should try to avoid saturated fats like butter and oil.
• You must not consume uncooked meat or seafood.
• You should also eat cereals, pulses, and legumes as these are rich sources of protein which help the growth of your body.
• You can also consume nuts or an ounce of fish or poultry every day.
• You must not consume carbonated drinks and canned foods.
• You must not consume alcohol and smoking is a strict “no-no”.
