Alcohol Addiction And Alcohol Monitoring

Do you need a drink regularly?  Do you often drink alone?  Are you hiding drink all over the house?   Do you drink first thing in the morning?  Is the urge to drink so compelling?  If you answer yes to all these questions you are on the way to alcohol dependence.  If people comment on your drinking, or advise you to cut down your quota you have a drinking problem. If you a drink to steady your nerves or down a hang-over, then mate, you really have a big alcohol problem on your hands.

You just had a drink.  Several hours after your last martini you are feeling nauseous.  Your body is shaking in cold sweat.  You are dying for another drink.  These are the classic symptoms of an alcohol withdrawal.  Both ways are nightmarish agonies for the alcoholic.  Alcohol dependence does not recognize gender, creed, or race.

Alcohol And Pregnant Women

Pregnant women who drink too much alcohol put their babies at risk to fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS). Children with FAS may have poor coordination, delayed speech, hyperactive behavior, and learning disabilities which may hamper their daily lives.  Men and women who consume too much alcohol are prone to liver disorder and other diseases.  It is wise to seek treatment if you have alcohol dependency.   If left untreated, the effects of alcohol can be deadly on your body.

If you are seeking alcohol treatment, there is hope. Several alcohol rehab centers offer individually-tailored treatment regimen.  These programs are a mix of clinical therapies:  counseling, group therapy, Neuro Linguistic Psychology (NLP) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).   These strategies develop self awareness.  Patients are taught how to respond to problems and consequently behavioral patterns are modified.

Upon admission to the alcohol rehab center, patients are prescribed to take the detoxification pills.  This will help their bodies bear the brutality of the withdrawal symptoms over a period of time.   This detoxification process will be terminated when the body has adjusted to the absence of alcohol.  The detoxification tablets are paired with a Vitamin B1 (thiamine).   During the first two days of detoxification patients will suffer twinges of anxiety, feel clammy or sweat; and find it difficult to sleep on the first few nights.

The detox regimen takes 7 days and is carried out in the alcohol rehab center.  A series of therapy modules follow detoxification.    At this point, you will already have a glimpse into a life free from alcohol.
