Type 1 diabetics who are on high doses of insulin could benefit from lemon juice by using it as a cleanser or from a lemon juice detox. For cleansing, measure your blood sugar on rising. Drink a glass of lemon juice using one portion of lemon juice and nine portions of water. Measure your blood sugar levels after 45 minutes. Take your insulin dose if you feel the level is too high. Continue taking lemon juice every hour and monitor your blood sugar levels. This will prepare you for a full-fledged cleansing which should be done under the supervision of a health care professional.
