Chocolate Recipes


Contrary to popular belief, chocolate recipes are very easy to follow, and one can follow chocolate and candy making recipes using either chocolate or cocoa powder right from scratch at Christmas, thanksgiving, and for parties. Read on for some easy chocolate recipes that you are just going to love.

Try the Vienna-style chocolate recipe. This would definitely feature on the list of the easiest chocolate recipes that you can make. For this recipe, you will need vanilla chocolate (4 ounces), milk (1 quart), hot water (3 tablespoons), and sugar (1 tablespoon). Cut the chocolate into tiny pieces and keep aside.
Pour the milk in a double-boiler and keep on the fire. At the same time, prepare a glossy and smooth mixture of the sugar chocolate and water. This can be done by putting all three ingredients in a granite-ware pan and stirring them on a hot flame. Once the milk reaches a boiling point, take it off the fire and add the mixture you have prepared and beat well with the help of a whisk. Put some cream (1 tablespoon) in a serving cup and top it with the chocolate mixture that you have prepared. Serve immediately.

The “Death by Chocolate” recipe is a creamy concoction that can be made at home and will cure your chocolate cravings. It is filled with nuts and cream cheese and is definitely not recommended for those who are calorie conscious.  Pre-heat your oven to 375 degrees. In the meantime, prepare a pan with a crust using some flour, butter, and walnuts and keep aside.   Whip together one packet of cheese cream and one cup powdered sugar and spread it evenly on the crust. Next mix together one packet of instant vanilla pudding and one packet of instant chocolate pudding with the milk and pour it over the cream cheese mixture. Top this with some more nuts and cool whip and chill in the refrigerator.  Serve chilled.  

Chocolate recipes such as the “Chocolate Suckers” and the “Chocolate Maraschino Cherry Recipe” are simple and easy to prepare. To make Chocolate Maraschino Cherries you need to take some dark, white, or milk chocolate pieces, icing sugar, Maraschino cherries, and a chocolate cup mold. Cut the cherries into halves. Cool some painted hollow chocolate molds in the freezer/fridge. Once cooled, add in the halved cherries and cherry juice (icing sugar and juice beaten till you get it to a creamy consistency). Top this with some chocolate and re-chill.  Chocolate suckers can also be easily made at home with the help of special molds that are available in the market. Such chocolate recipes for kids are not only easy to make and work great as party gifts.

Steaming hot chocolate is an ideal drink to have on chilly mornings. There are a number of easy chocolate recipes you can use to make hot chocolate. Try this one, it’s really nice. Take about two ounces of unsweetened chocolate, four cups milk, a pinch of salt, 1/3 cup of sugar, ½ tsp vanilla. Put the sugar, chocolate, salt and milk in a saucepan and place it on a medium-low flame. Heat the mixture till the chocolate blends well in the milk. Next add the vanilla and pour the drink into cups and serve hot. 

There are a number of dark chocolate recipes that you can try at home such at dark chocolate brownies and grilled dark chocolate sandwich. To prepare the brownies you need to microwave some six ounces of bittersweet chocolate and one cup butter in a glass bowl (2-quart) at high temperature for about one and a half minutes or till the chocolate melts. Next whisk in four large eggs, two cups sugar, and one tablespoon vanilla extract in the melted chocolate. Toss together half cup of walnuts, one tablespoon flour and one cup of chocolate morsels and keep aside. Then stir in the remaining flour and salt in your chocolate mixture, which you had prepared earlier. Add the walnuts to this batter, and spread it in a greased pan. Bake at a temperature of 350 degrees for about 30 to 35 minutes or till done. Place it on a wire rack to cool.

If you prefer white chocolate recipes try the white chocolate tart. To prepare this you would need chocolate cookies crumbs (1½ cup), melted butter (1/3 cup), chocolate ganache (1/3 cup), white chocolate (350 grams), fine leaf gelatine (2 pieces), some cold water, whipping cream (425 ml), and cocoa powder (2 tbsp).  Here’s how you prepare this recipe. Mix together melted butter and cookie crumbs in a 21 cm pan used for making tarts. Bake this in a preheated oven (350F) for ten minutes. Put the ganache in a piping bag, and pipe it onto the tart base that is cooled. It should be piped in a spiral shape. Stir the gelatin that has been soaked in water for about five minutes in a saucepan of water until it dissolves. In a separate pan, heat some cream and pour this over the chocolate, and keep whisking till the chocolate melts. To this mixture add the gelatine and stir till it smoothens. Once this mixture cools, pour into the tart pan that you had prepared earlier and chill for about three hours. Finally, sift the cocoa powder over the chilled tart when you are ready to serve.     

Over indulging ourselves with chocolate is not too good in the long run, and it is better to look for healthy chocolate recipes that are easy to make and do not affect our health. Try using dark chocolate in your chocolate recipes. Dark chocolate has more antioxidants as compared to white chocolate or milk chocolate. Recipes that use dried fruits such as almonds and raisins pack a great nutritional punch. While preparing your chocolate recipes, try substituting ingredients such as sugar, butter, and milk with some healthy alternatives. These recipes may not have the traditional flavor, but it is just a matter of getting accustomed to a different taste. You will learn to love them.
