Are there any exercises that are meant specifically for overweight and obese people?
(July 14, 2010)

Obesity is a rather common problem today and with all the media attention it is receiving, many people are trying to shed the excess pounds. Unfortunately, while most people have the determination, they often lack the necessary instruction. As we all know, a healthy diet plan along with a regular exercise schedule are essential for weight loss. There are several exercises for obese people that can be used in order to get rid of the excess weight and the important aspect here is that you need to focus on sticking to a regular schedule.

It would be necessary to have an instructor if you are considered obese by medical standards.

This will ensure that you lose the excess weight without putting unnecessary strain on your muscles and organs. This is extremely important as any excess strain can have extremely dire and even fatal consequences. The exercise bike is a good option for people who are overweight and obese as it helps to strengthen the muscles of the legs. Over a period of time, this will allow a person to include more exercises in their workout. It would also be wise to include a few minutes at the rowing machine in a regular workout. This will help to strengthen the pectoral muscles and allows you to burn tummy fat more easily. It also helps to strengthen the muscles of the lower back and since people who are overweight often suffer from back problems, a few minutes at the rowing machine will go a long way in preventing back pain. Being overweight can result in a significant amount of stress on the joints of the body. Swimming is therefore a very good idea as it helps to take some of this strain off the joints and it also helps to strengthen various muscles of the body. Exercises like squats and lunges are not recommended for people who are severely overweight as this can cause joint problems. It can also be a bit of a problem since being overweight can greatly affect a person’s balance. Walking, jogging, and running are extremely strenuous and so they should be avoided as far as possible unless your trainer specifically recommends it. These are generally very good exercises after the person has better fitness levels.

A healthy diet is very important as this helps to fuel your body and make sure that you get the energy you require. A healthy diet will also ensure that you do not gain weight. Both a healthy diet and an exercise schedule are important for healthy weight loss.
