Best Life Diet

The Best life diet is a modification of lifestyle with a healthy eating pattern. Regular physical exercise is emphasised. It is easy to adhere to. The amount of calories recommended is directly proportional to the amount of physical activity performed. About 1,500 to 2,500 calories are suggested based on the sex and physical activity.

Certain numbers of servings are allowed from each food group. Choosing the right foods and regulating the quantity is the principle of this diet. Healthy foods are considered, while restricting the intake of pasta, sugar containing soft drinks, fried foods, foods with Trans fats, high fat dairy products and white bread. Healthy foods, namely, fruits, vegetables, low fat dairy products and whole grains are beneficial. The struggle of losing weight is replaced by lifestyle improvement. Phase one involves change in eating habits. Increasing the activity pattern is the main target for the first four weeks. The principles of this plan includes

  • Three meals and one snack per day
  • No eating two hours prior to bed
  • No alcohol
  • Supplementation of omega 3 fatty acids and calcium and
  • Staying hydrated

Phase Two involves an even intense approach and is based on the changes made in the previous phase. Emphasis is also on

  • Regulating physical and emotional hunger
  • Removal of problem foods from the meals
  • Portion or quantity control and
  • Weekly weight checks.
  • Phase Three increases the usage of healthy foods and eliminates the unhealthy ones.
