Salad Diet and Weight Loss Although there are various fad diets being invented every day, the salad diet is probably the most healthy and effective way to lose weight.
This diet aims at providing your body with its daily nutritional requirements while eliminating excess processed carbohydrates and unhealthy fats. Although diet and salad are usually considered synonymous and conjure up images of a few bland, unappetizing chopped veggies tossed together in a bowl, this could not be further from the truth! Salads can be made to look and taste delicious. The sight of a salad consisting of mushrooms baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, yellow pepper, iceberg lettuce and smoked chicken along with a raspberry vinaigrette is enough to get even the most ardent meat lover’s appetite aroused.
The human body requires a certain amount of protein daily and so you would be able to add about a cup or so of smoked or grilled chicken (or seafood) to your salads.
When starting this diet, it would be advisable that you start of by substituting one of your regular meals with a salad. Do this for just three meals during the first week and follow up the next week by doubling the number of your salad meals.
Do not try to rush yourself; instead you can take as much time as you feel is necessary to adjust to your new diet. Experiment and invent salad recipes that suit your palate. Try to keep in mind that each time you choose a healthy salad, you are losing weight. Make sure that your salads look and taste good. Slice a beetroot as well as a couple of yellow bell peppers and toss them into your salad to add color to your salad. Along with iceberg lettuce, try to throw in a few freshly chopped darker greens, cucumber, broccoli, tomatoes, cauliflower, celery and onions. You can also use a small amount of a low- fat diet salad dressing on every salad. I would suggest that you use a natural dressing made out of a dash of cider vinegar along with a few spoons of olive oil. Olive oil is extremely healthy and will provide your body with essential fatty acids.
Alternatively, you could also sprinkle your salad with a few chopped nuts or seeds. You should also have a fruit salad at least once a day. Include plenty of citrus fruits (like oranges, sweet limes, etc.) in your salad diet as they will help you to burn off fat more easily. |
