Bell Peppers

Bell peppers come in different colors.  Red, purple, yellow, orange, and green—all Christmassy colors that bring vibrancy in kitchens as well as in health.   Vigorous in its smallness crisp inside and juicy.  This cultivated variety belongs to the species capsicum annum.  Bell peppers are the kind of peppers which don’t have the tang and heat of other pungent peppers.  They include a kind of receding gene that takes away the capsaicin responsible for that tart.  The term bell pepper is a misnomer courtesy of Christopher Columbus.  During his time, peppercorn was the valued spice

But today bell pepper has to come to mean large bell-shaped pepper.  They come in different sizes, shapes, tastes, and colors.  But bell peppers are sweet.  They have set up themselves as essential in salads and as vital parts of a variety of cuisines.  As they mature, they become sweet peppers.  Slices of bell peppers are good for snacks and they can also be added to pastas and salads.   However you want them—stir fried, raw, or stuffed—they make nutritional values readily available.

Bell peppers are a mixed of taste and texture.  They can be flavorful and crispy.  Their vibrant hues make for a colorful healthy life.  They are a goldmine of the best possible nutrients around and are also vitamin A source and vitamin C source

The color red bell pepper has more carotene compared to green bell peppers.  They have high nutritional value.  Green bell peppers can compete with citrus fruits like oranges or grapefruit in vitamin C contents.  Red bell pepper has even more.  The lycopene contents are also found in bell peppers.  This is a kind of carotenoid whose low consumption of it can caused development of certain kinds of cancers.   The concentration of carotenoids like beta-carotene shuts down the source of health problems.  Vitamin B6 and folic acid are good for atherosclerosis and heart disease.   The two B vitamins are responsible for cardiovascular prevention.   Bell peppers are also fibrous which can aid in the lowering of high levels of cholesterols which are considered dangerous factors for heart diseases and stroke

Bell peppers rich in vitamin A can actually help in fending off deadly emissions from cigarettes.  Because a carcinogen in cigarette smoke prompts vitamin A deficiency.   A recent finding reveals that a deficiency in vitamin A can develop emphysema.  But bell pepper with its abundant supply of Vitamin A can at least help counter this effect.   People who consumed lots of vitamin laden foods like sweet peppers and smoking at the same time oftentimes survived to be a hundred.    Seeing red through red bell peppers can make for 20/20 vision.  The red kind of bell pepper has the substances lutein and zeaxanthin which protect blindness against the older generation.  These are good for your eyesight.  They seem to have a defensive effect against cataracts.  This is perhaps to the rich supply of vitamin C and beta carotene.   Bell peppers if made a daily part of eating can lead to a healthy life.
