Increase metabolism
Metabolism is a rather important function of the body that plays the primary responsibility of converting food into energy that is needed by the body for proper functioning, faster healing, getting rid of toxins in the body and so on. The nutrients in the body can be absorbed well because of the metabolism process and it also aids the digestive process. All these above mentioned functions are carried out through a series of reactions that take place and if these processes slow down, it implies the rate of metabolism has gone down. A healthy metabolism rate is directly attributed to loss of weight and maintaining it because a metabolic rate determines at what rate your body burns calories. There are a lot of factors that influence your metabolism and these include age, gender, hereditary factors and thyroid problems. A lot of people drastically cut down on their calorie and fat intake in order to lose weight but by doing this, the rate of metabolism is also reduced. Also, some people may skip meals or eat less to lose weight but by doing so the body is able to burn lesser calories and very little fat because the metabolic rate has gone down. Thus, it is essential that you increase the metabolic rate by eating food that stimulates the metabolic rate. There are a number of foods that increase metabolism and thus, you should include these in your everyday diet. It is advised that you do not skip your meals and eat well. Also, have 5 to 6 small meals throughout the day rather than having 3 large meals. Drinking a lot of water is very beneficial to speed up metabolism as it keeps the body well hydrated and helps to get rid of toxins in the kidneys.
Extracts from green tea help to boost metabolism and thus aid in losing weight and is quite popular among a number of health conscious people. Soup is extremely healthy and a great option to increase metabolism. It can be included as a snack, as an appetizer, or before your meal as it fills up your stomach because of which you can limit your intake of fatty foods. Similarly, eating a bowl of salad before lunch or for breakfast is very helpful. Grapefruit is known to increase metabolism naturally and a study carried out indicated that all the people who ate half a grapefruit along with every meal for 12 whole weeks lost about 3.6 pounds on an average. Apples and pears are also great fruits and can be consumed instead of eating other foods that are not healthy. Broccoli is an excellent vegetable and is a great way to increase your metabolism rate as it is a great source of calcium as well as vitamin C. Apart from this; broccoli is also very beneficial as it fights diseases and strengthen the immune system. A study conducted revealed that consumption of dairy products aided in weight loss and those who had about 3 or 4 servings of dairy foods recorded significant weight loss. Low fat yogurt is particularly very beneficial in speeding up the rate of metabolism in your body. Hot peppers are also great for this purpose and thus, should be eaten on a regular basis. Oatmeal is another food that is very helpful because it enables to keep you full for a longer time thus, keeping your hunger craving at bay. However, make sure you buy oats that are either steel cut or rolled. There are also a couple of herbs that increase metabolism and can be added to your meals.
