Thermogenics

Thermogenics supplement’s helps the body to burn calories, by increasing metabolism. They can be classified as stimulants or non-stimulants. The stimulants include such supplements as caffeine (green tea, guar Ana, yerba mate) and ephedra (ma-huang). But they are not recommended for consumption as they can increase blood pressure and heart rate. Other thermogenics are safer then the stimulants, and increases the calorie consumption of the body.

  1. Apple cider vinegar – It is a popular weight loss supplement and it helps the body to burn calories.
    Besides it is believed to maintain a favorable physical state by providing balance to the body’s ph.
  2. Bitter Orange – It contains synephrine that is a selective stimulant. It can increase B.P. but does not have other side effects such as anxiety and increased heart rate like the other stimulants. Though it is safer than other stimulants, it is to be used only after consultation.
  3. Grape Fruit – It is believed that compounds in grape fruit help the body to burn fat and can be used as a weight loss supplement.
  4. Kelp/ Bladder Wrack – These seaweeds are high in iodine (trace mineral) that can stimulate the thyroid gland. And through stimulation the amount of energy spent daily can be increased. The thyroid gland controls the body’s metabolism. But the thyroid gland can be over-stimulated by long-term use of the above seaweeds.
