Diabetic Snacks Diabetes is a disease caused by high glucose levels in the blood. Controlling diabetes involves keeping a regular check on the glucose levels in the blood as well as losing weight. It is very important for diabetic people to follow a strict balanced diet which is low in fats and carbohydrates. Healthy diabetic snacks should be a part of their daily diet and these would need to be consumed between lunch and dinner to maintain blood sugar at the required levels. If the medication is oral, the patient should eat relatively smaller meals and diabetic snacks foods which are rich in protein. This way over eating can be avoided and their hunger is also satisfied. If medication is in the form of insulin injections, most of the carbohydrates should be eaten during meal time when the insulin level is high and the snacks should be low in carbohydrates.
