Food and other natural remedies for insomnia

Insomnia is regarded to be one of the most common conditions found in both men and women in the world today.



Insomnia is a condition in which the person is not able to follow the normal pattern of sleep. Usually, a person is supposed to sleep for a minimum of six hours. An insomniac does not get enough sleep and also finds it difficult to remain asleep for longer hours. This condition is generally caused by a variety of reasons.



There are both psychological and physiological factors linked to insomnia. Lack of essential nutrients is considered to be one of the main causes of insomnia. Psychological factors such as anxiety, anger, overexcitement and physiological factors such as constipation, body ache and many more are some of the main causes of insomnia.

In order to get rid of insomnia, it is highly recommended to consume foods which contain high levels of proteins, vitamins, iron, calcium and other various instrumental nutrients.



It is also recommended to try sleeping on a full stomach in order to attain sound sleep. A full stomach does not mean you should overeat, but just enough to avoid hunger pangs. Junk food is not healthy and should be avoided at all costs. Green vegetables such as spinach, broccoli, peas and many more are very healthy in nature. Avoid consuming foods which contain high amounts of sugar especially at nights. Sugary foods are known to make a person hyperactive which causes inability to sleep. Also avoid aerated drinks, tea, coffee and chocolates before going to bed.

Drinking a warm glass of milk before bedtime could ensure a good night's sleep. You can also add one tablespoon of honey to the milk. Apply a dab of herbal balm on your forehead and the temples. This is known to be one of the best natural remedies for insomnia.

Working out in a gym on a daily basis is considered to be very helpful in the cure for insomnia.



Exercising regularly will help you to sleep better. Swimming is also known to be a very helpful measure in this case. Since insomnia is generally caused due to inactivity of the body, it is highly recommended to go either go for a walk or a run at least once a day. Avoid performing tasks which cause tension and stress. Find a hobby or a relaxing technique which will help you attain a calm and peaceful mind.
