Weight loss recipes
Our modern lifestyle has become increasingly laid back and sedentary. The human body has a complex digestive system. We tend to absorb the nutrients required during the digestive process and store some of these nutrients in fat deposits all across the body. Fat deposits are designed to be used at a later date for energy when there is an energy requirement. Human beings typically eat food two or three times a day. This provides nutrition at various times in the day. In the interim period, the body may call on its reserves for energy. The modern diet being consumed, especially by urban populations is also not very healthy. Our diet tends to contain a lot of processed food and in some cases is full of heavy junk food. Many people consume large quantities of meat and other body mass building foods. This is not a problem if there is a corresponding amount of physical exercise. The problem of weight gain arises when the amount of food being consumed is more than what is required by the person based on the physical effort being undertaken. A combination of reduced physical activity and increased consumption of food is responsible for people growing overweight.
Weight reduction is a long term process and one should not expect to lose large quantities of weight immediately. Weight loss is also related to one’s lifestyle. One can modify one’s diet, but without corresponding exercise, the body is unlikely to reduce too much weight. Crash dieting is also dangerous as it puts the body in a situation where the required nutrition is not accessible to the body. This can have a detrimental effect on the health of the individual. The best way to lose weight in a healthy manner is to follow a healthy weight loss menu.
The first step towards a healthy weight loss menu is the analysis of the diet that is currently being consumed. One can easily understand which foods should be eliminated simply by gauging which foods are heavy and contain lots of fat. One can replace these foods with low calorie foods that are easily available.
Generally speaking fruits and vegetables are preferable in a weight loss menu. Most vegetables tend to be at the lower end of the calorie scale, particularly when they are prepared in a healthy manner by boiling or steaming. Naturally, fried foods are not recommended under weight loss foods.
Apples, Beans, Broccoli, Fish, Oats, Pasta, Brown Rice and Tofu are all foods that fall under the low calorie foods category. One should also understand that the method of preparing dishes containing these food items is equally important. Pasta with a cheesy sauce is likely to be high in calorie and fat content which completely defeats the purpose of consuming this low calorie food.
Healthy weight loss recipes generally feature fresh foods. Fresh vegetables can be prepared using healthy techniques such as steaming and light cooking. Normal oil may be replaced with olive oil which is considered to be healthier and helps to promote weight loss. A good weight loss meal also includes plenty of fiber. Fiber allows food to pass more smoothly through the digestive system. This may help to reduce the absorption of food, particularly in people who have slow moving digestive systems. Soluble fiber is also known to trap carbohydrates within it, thus reducing the absorption of carbohydrates into the body. This reduces amount of food being absorbed even though the quantity of consumption remains the same. While following a weight loss diet, one should spend some time on exercise programs in order to ensure that the body is becoming more efficient.
