Honey Roasted Almonds And Rosemarry Recipes

The combination of rosemary and walnuts in this recipe is so scrumptious that it is difficult to resist. This is a simple and easy to make recipe which can be made in less than 25 minutes.

Roasted Nuts Recipe Ingredients:

2 medium egg whites
6 cups walnuts, medium to small pieces
1 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon dry rosemary or 4 teaspoon fresh rosemary
Cooking spray

Method:

    1. Line a medium size baking pan with foil. Lightly coat the foil with a non stick cooking spray. Leave aside. Preheat the oven to 350 degree Fahrenheit.
    2. Take the egg whites in a medium bowl and lightly beat them with the help of a fork until they become frothy. Add fresh or dried rosemary, freshly ground pepper, salt and continue beating with the fork until the ingredients are combined well. Add nuts and mix well
    3. Spread this nut and egg mixture in the prepared baking pan and with the back of the fork press it to get an even spread. Place the pan in the oven and bake for about 15 to 20 minutes, stirring once. As the nuts get a light golden brown color remove the baking pan from the oven. Remove the foil from the baking pan and allow the nuts to cool at room temperature. If there are any large pieces, break them using your fingers. Once cooled you may serve the rosemary roasted nuts. You may even store the nuts in an air tight container in the freezer for up to one month. This recipe makes 2 servings.

      Health Tip:

      • For variety you may use different types of nuts along with walnuts like almonds, pistachio nuts, and cashew nuts.
      • You can have a handful of rosemary roasted nuts when hungry instead of hogging on any fried snacks.
      • This is a diabetes friendly, vegetarian recipe containing eggs and nuts.
      • Rosemary roasted nuts provide around 195 calories, 20 gm fat and 5 gm protein per serving. Although this recipe doesn’t provide too many calories it provides good amount of total fat. But remember the quality of fat it provides is good as all nuts are rich in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids and provide very little saturated and trans fatty acids. Nuts are not a source of cholesterol. Also the omega 3 to omega 6 fatty acid ratio in nuts is good and it provides enough omega 3 fatty acids.
