Cooking Phyllo with Pear Bundles Recipe

Ingredients For Cooking Phyllo:

1 pear, coarsely chopped
½ cup plums, coarsely chopped
2 teaspoon butter
6 sheets phyllo dough
2 tablespoon pistachio nuts, coarsely chopped
1 tablespoon honey
½ teaspoon ground cardamom
Non-stick cooking spray

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degree Fahrenheit. Line a medium sized baking dish with foil and set aside.
  2. Heat butter over medium heat in a medium size non-stick skillet. As the butter melts add chopped pear, chopped plums, ground cardamom and honey. Cook for about 5 minutes or till the pear and plum begins to soften, stirring occasionally. Remove the skillet from heat and let the contents cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes. After the fruits are cooled stir in chopped pistachio nuts.
  3. Unfold the phyllo dough removing 1 sheet of phyllo dough at a time. To prevent the remaining phyllo dough sheets from drying wrap them with a plastic wrap.
  4. Lightly coat the removed phyllo dough sheet with non-stick cooking spray. Remove another phyllo dough sheet and place it on top of the first sheet. Lightly coat the second phyllo sheet again with non-stick cooking spray. Place the third phyllo dough sheet over the second and again coat the third sheet with non-stick cooking spray. Similarly repeat with the remaining 3 phyllo sheets. Cut each phyllo stack crosswise into half to form 2 rectangles of 9×7 inch.
  5. Place the fruit mixture in the center of each rectangle in such a way that the fruit mixture gets equally divided among the 4 phyllo rectangles. To make a bundle for each phyllo bundle, bring all the four corners of the rectangle in the center and pinch the corners lightly so that they stick with each other. Lightly twist the twisted corners to give the bundles pleasing effect. Place the four bundles on the already prepared baking dish. Coat the tops of each bundle lightly with non-stick cooking spray.
  6. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 15 to 20 minutes or until each bundle turns light brown in color. After done remove the baking dish from the oven and let it stand for 5 minutes. You may choose to serve the dish warm or cooled at room temperature. This recipe makes 4 servings.
