Grits Recipe With Sausage And Cheese

Cheesy Grits Ingredients

Garlic salt – one fourth of a teaspoon
Water – two cups
Grits – half cup
Jalapeno pepper – two teaspoon (remove the seeds and chop them fine).
Cheddar cheese – two tablespoon (use low fat variety) Shred the cheese into fine pieces.
Turkey – two ounces (boil the turkey in a cooker) Drain the excess water and grind the turkey into a paste. You can substitute turkey with pork sausage.
Black pepper – as required
Green onion slices – one tablespoon

Method Of Preparation

  1. Boil some water in a saucepan.
  2. Add the corn grits and keep stirring the mixture.
  3. Increase the flame for two minutes.
  4. Bring down the flame and cook for about five to seven minutes.
  5. The mixture thickens, due to the absorption of the excess water.
  6. To the corn grits, add the jalapeno pepper, cooked turkey sausage, black pepper powder, green onion and garlic salt.
  7. Scoop out into serving cups and garnish with low fat cheddar cheese.
  8. You can also use an oven to prepare this dish.
  9. Cook the sausage.
  10. Add the grits onto the casserole and add the cheese.
  11. Bake the casserole for half an hour in an oven at 350 degree Fahrenheit. Do not cover the baking dish. Allow it to cool, prior to serving.
