Vomiting is the forceful expulsion or removal of stomach contents that is caused when the stomach muscles contract. Emesis is another term for vomiting. There may be times when you make an effort to throw up but may not be successful in expelling anything. This action is termed as retching. The feeling of nausea may or may not be accompanied with vomiting. A few of the symptoms that are associated with vomiting include an increase in the heart rate, dizziness, difficulty while swallowing, giddiness and increased saliva. Treat Vomiting And Nausea With The Following Home Remedies
Vomiting can be treated by following a few home remedies. Ginger tea is one of the most effective and oldest remedies for vomiting. Boil 2 cups of water over low heat and then steep about 2 spoons of finely chopped ginger in it. Once it has cooled down, you can slowly have a few sips at a time. This will help to stop vomiting.
A glass of chilled lime juice should also work. It will help restore energy levels and will prevent retching. You can also add a teaspoon of cinnamon powder to about 1 ½ cups of water. Heat this over low heat until it starts to simmer and boil. Take it off the heat and let it cool down before you drink this. You could also add a teaspoon of honey to enhance the taste. Mix equal quantities of honey and apple cider vinegar. Add this to a glass of water and drink it just before you go to bed. Another very popular remedy is the use of onion juice. Having one teaspoon of this juice every 2-3 hours will help in curing vomiting.
When faced with this uncomfortable condition, it is wise to stay away from any solid food for the initial twelve hours. Stick to liquids such as apple juice or carrot juice. In other words, stay away from all foods that may be difficult to digest, and go in for foods that are easy on the stomach. Do not eat any dairy products or drink any citrus juices. After the initial 12 hours have lapsed you may progress onto boiled rice, boiled potatoes, peeled apples and bananas. Once the vomiting has subsided, do not switch to your regular diet immediately. Rather, let it be a gradual process so that you system can get accustomed to the change. If the vomiting does not seem to stop, you may need to seek medical advice.
