Sinus Infection - Treat Sinus Headaches With Home Remedies For Sinus

Sinusitis is condition in which the paranasal sinuses become inflamed. There are four parasnasal sinuses located around the areas of the head and face. These are the frontal, maxillary, ethmoid and sphenoid sinuses. The maxillary sinuses are most prone to inflammation. The other sinus cavities are less affected. Sinusitis can occur due to bacterial, viral or fungal infections. It often occurs after infections of the respiratory tract. In rare cases, it could also develop after dental conditions such as tooth extraction, or after swimming in unclean water.

Climatic changes may also trigger the onset of sinusitis. Individuals with weak immune systems are more vulnerable to sinusitis attacks. Sinusitis begins when there is inflammation of the mucus membranes of the nasal passage. This blocks the sinus cavities causing the discharge to accumulate inside. This blockage results in pain, pressure and swelling. As the discharge becomes infected, the symptoms also become aggravated.
