Rash And Swelling On Face – How To Stop Swelling On Face?

Facial swelling can be caused by different things. It can be an injury, an allergic reaction, or it can be water retention. It is important to know what is causing the swelling to be able to treat it. If the swelling is from an injury, you need rest and you need to ascertain the extent of the injury. A cold compress can be applied for about ten to fifteen minutes several times a day. Swelling caused by an allergic reaction needs a histamine blocker.

The allergen needs to be removed from the area or not used again if it was consumed. If the swelling is caused from water retention, you need to figure out the cause and then use a remedy for it. Water retention can be caused from pregnancy or dietary excess; in which case, you would want to watch what you eat. Avoid foods with a high sodium content. Some foods with a high water content may need to be cut down.

Remedial Measures For Facial Swelling

Some remedies that can be helpful are as follows (use caution if you are pregnant):

  • Mustard oil rubbed on the skin (be careful around the eyes)
  • Try massaging the area gently.
  • Raise the head of the bed when sleeping as this will allow fluids from the injured area to drain out easily.
  • Comfrey can help reduce swelling.
  • Vitamin E improves circulation, and vitamin C helps injured cells.
  • Coenzyme Q10 helps with constructing and rebuilding cells.
  • Arnica stimulates healing and reduces pain and swelling, and alfalfa will help stimulate healing. Also, witch hazel will help heal damaged veins.
  • Make a paste of equal amounts of turmeric and red sandalwood. Apply this to the area making sure to avoid yours. Allow it to remain on for at least 15 minutes and then rinse it off with warm water followed by a cold water rinse. This will help to ease both the swelling and the pain.
  • Rub tea tree oil on the area avoiding the eyes.
  • Chop fresh cilantro, blend 1/3 cup, and then strain. Drink immediately. The strained cilantro pulp can be applied directly to the injured
  • Mix 1/8 or ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar in water. Drink throughout the day.
  • Coffee and tea are natural diuretics. Use sparingly.

Whichever method is used, it should be used sensibly. Doing anything in excess will cause more problems. When using topical ingredients, you still have to watch out for an allergic reaction.  When making changes in your diet, you still have to maintain good nutrition. If the swelling does not go away, seek medical help.
