Mix together spinach juice (200 ml) and carrot juice (300 ml) and drink it once or twice in a day. The juice of raw parsley (approximately 200 ml) can also be mixed with the carrot juice to treat conjunctivitis. It has been found to be equally beneficial. Another very effective remedy is cold water fomentation. This procedure involves dipping a clean piece of cloth in a bowl of ice cold water.

Squeeze out the excess liquid from the cloth and place it over the eyes. Once the cloth becomes warm, dip it in the water again. This should be done for around 30 minutes everyday. It will soothe the eyes and speed up healing. Increase your intake of vitamin A and vitamin B2. These have proved to be useful for this condition. Papayas, mangoes, tomatoes, pumpkin, carrots, butter and yogurt are all sources of vitamin A, while leafy green vegetables, tomatoes, citrus fruits, almonds and milk are good sources of vitamin B2.

The diet that you maintain while you have this infection is also important. The most prudent way of treating this condition is to stick to a fruit diet. Three of your meals in a day should consist of only fruits. However do not include bananas in this dietary regime of yours. Sugary and starchy foods should be avoided. Caffeine, jams, puddings, refined cereals, white bread, potatoes, meats, confectionery and too much of salt should all be excluded from your diet.
