Home Remedies for Acid Reflux
Acid reflux is more commonly known as heartburn. It is also called gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD. In this condition, the stomach acid gets pushed back and up into the esophagus causing a burning sensation in the throat and chest. People with this condition may experience nausea and vomiting and may even have difficulty in swallowing.
Causes of Acid Reflux
Pregnancy or obesity often causes acid reflux because the increased weight puts extra pressure on the abdomen. This causes the stomach to push back its contents into the esophagus. It can also result from over-eating, or from bending over suddenly and violently. It can also be caused or aggravated by going to bed immediately after a heavy meal. Excessive fatty foods can also lead to indigestion and acid reflux.
