Pneumonia is a condition that affects an individual’s lungs and can be caused by either infectious or non-infectious agents. This condition causes the inflammation of one or both of the lungs, and treatment, if delayed, can have grave consequences. This condition can be caused by one or more contributory factors, some of which include: excessive smoking, bronchitis, and chronic alcohol abuse. Other causes include lung cancer, cystic fibrosis, lung cancer, and a weak or slackened immune system. Bloody sputum, headaches, anorexia, fatigue, labored breathing, cough, chills, fever and chest pain are some of the common symptoms that are displayed by a patient that suffers from this particular condition.

There are a large number of home remedies however, that can help in treating this condition to a considerable extent. Tea that has been prepared from fenugreek seeds is recommended, particularly during the initial stages of the illness. The patient should be given four cups of this tea on a daily basis. Once the individual displays signs of improvement, the quantity can be reduced to two cups a day. Garlic is also considered to be extremely beneficial, when it comes to treating pneumonia. A paste prepared from freshly crushed garlic pods can be applied on the individual’s chest. Garlic is considered to be a very effective anti-bacterial agent and this will help to control the infection and prevent it from spreading. Another alternative would be to add a few pods of garlic to the patient’s food as this too will prove to be helpful.

Carrot juice, when combined with cucumber and beet juice or spinach juice, will also yield positive results, if it is given to the patient on a daily basis. The juices need to be combined in the ratio of 3:2. In other words 3 parts of carrot juice needs to be combined with 2 parts of spinach juice or one part each of beet and cucumber juice. Half a liter of this juice should be fed to the patient regularly. The patient needs to have complete bed rest and should switch over to a simple diet. During the initial stages, fresh fruit and vegetable juices should form the main part of the patient’s diet. Thereafter, they can gradually move on to other foods as well. Make sure that you continue to follow the prescribed medicines for your condition as these remedies are not substitutes for medication. Medical help is essential as the absence of adequate treatment could lead to dire consequences.
