Beef Patties With Fresh Vegetables

Ingredients:

16 ounce beef, ground
1 cup plain yogurt, fat free or low fat
¼ cup cucumber, peeled and chopped
2 tablespoon fresh mint or 2 teaspoon dried mint
½ cup onions, chopped
4 tablespoon jalapeno peppers, seeded and chopped fine
1 teaspoon garlic, minced
1 teaspoon cumin, ground
½ teaspoon salt
Flat Indian bread

Easy Patties Cooking Method

  1. Beat plain yogurt lightly in a small bowl with the help of a hand beater. Stir in the chopped cucumber and cover the bowl. Place the mixture in the refrigerator to chill until the patties are ready to serve
  2. Combine jalapeno peppers, chopped onions, fresh mint, minced garlic, cumin and salt separately in a large bowl. Add the ground beef and mix the contents well. From this mixture form 4 patties about ¾ inches thick
  3. Place these patties directly over medium coals over the rack of a greased uncovered grill. Cover and grill for about 18 to 20 minutes or until the meat is done. Turn the patties once halfway through grilling to ensure even cooking and browning from both the flat sides (an instant read thermometer should read 160 degree Fahrenheit)
  4. Serve the patties on flat Indian bread. Spoon chilled cucumber and yogurt sauce over the patties and serve. This recipe makes 4 servings
