Dry Skin Home Remedies
Some people are more prone to having dry skin as compared to others which gives their skin a dull and flaky look especially around their eyes and cheeks. The skin becomes dry when it is not provided with sufficient amounts of water which is required to keep it hydrated. However there are plenty of natural home remedies for dry skin such as mashing one each of a banana, peach, papaya and avocado and leaving it on the face or other dry skin area for at least 20 minutes before washing it off with some warm water. Another natural remedy for dry skin is to mix together the yolk of an egg, one tablespoon of dried out milk powder and half a teaspoon of honey to form a paste which should be applied and removed with warm water only after 25- 30 minutes of applying it. Cucumber if grated and applied on the dry skin is considered to be extremely beneficial as it helps to tighten the skin and also has a refreshing and cooling effect on the skin. Hence cucumber is also good for the eyes as it soothes them. Additionally those suffering from dry skin should ideally use mineral water as far as possible while washing their face, and should also avoid using soap. Instead they should use neutral – pH, non detergents products to wash their face. Those facing dry skin problems should also avoid washing themselves frequently with hot water, as hot water tends to dissolve and wash away most of the essential skin oils thereby making the skin very dry.
Natural Treatment for Dry Skin
Another natural treatment for dry skin is to apply foods like yogurt, milk, egg, oatmeal, olive oil etc on the skin as they are considered to be very effective skin cleansers and natural moisturizers. The itching sensation associated with dry skin can be taken care of by dipping a clean cloth in some cold milk and applying it to the dry skin for 6 – 7 minutes. The itching sensation will subside on account of the anti inflammatory property of milk. Similarly Vaseline or petroleum jelly may be applied all over the dry skin and left overnight to treat the problem of dry skin. Almond oil is also beneficial in treating dry skin and can be applied directly on the skin while massaging it gently.
