The “GM diet” is usually the abbreviation by which the General Motors diet is known. This diet was specially developed by the General Motors Corporation for the benefit of its employees. The soup diet that you mention is not really a diet in itself, but a part of the GM diet. It is actually only one small part of several stages in the GM diet, which, it is important to note, is a rather strict and severe diet.

Fruit Diet And Soup Diet For Weight Reduction

On the first day of this diet, you are supposed to consume only fruits and fruit juices. Bananas are prohibited, but you can eat all other fruits. On the second day, you are supposed to eat only vegetables and vegetable soups. Ideally, the vegetables should be consumed raw or boiled, but you are allowed to cook them lightly, using a minimal amount of oil. On the third day, you are allowed to consume both fruits and vegetables, and their derivatives of course. Here too bananas are not allowed, and potatoes are prohibited too. On the fourth day, your diet consists of only bananas, milk, and vegetable soups. On the fifth day, your diet finally gets a little more interesting – you can eat a small amount (two portions) of lean meat and tomatoes.

For vegetarians, the meat can be substituted with mixed sprouts. You must also drink plenty of water; this helps to flush out any excess uric acid from your body. On the sixth day, you can consume meat once again (or sprouts), this time as much as you like, as well as plenty of vegetables. Finally, on the seventh day, you are supposed to consume plenty of vegetables, fruit juices, and brown rice. This is of course a brief summary of the diet – there are also more specific guidelines that help you plan each meal over the course of these seven days. This week long diet plan needs to be implemented approximately once every four weeks.

As mentioned earlier, most nutritionists, dieticians, and other doctors today do not approve of this kind of diet. If you are really interested in losing weight and staying healthy, you need to eat and live healthy at all times, not just one week out of four. What is important is the balance between the calories you consume and the calories you burn, and this is primarily achieved through a low fat diet and regular exercise.
